...uhhh

Uhhh...what is this...? I've heard much better from you...
1) It was EXTREMLY repetetive...i wanted to hack my own ears off by the end...
2) The sound levels were all wrong..xlyphone..thing was much louder than everything else...so sort that out
3) What was that?! General MIDI or something?!?! Get some new soundfonts...please...

Sorry to bitch...its just ive heard better from you...

Scarlatti responds:

That's the bad thing about getting better pretty quickly. There are inevitably a few turds that stick to your shoe. I do like the tune I wrote, but I did it with NoteWorthy composer, and yes, many of the instruments were GM. The truth is, this is the first piece I wrote for multiple instruments that didn't utterly disappoint me on the inaugural listening-through. I think you're right in all three points, though hacking your ears off is going a little too far. It's much less detrimental to your health to throw your computer into a woodchipper.

cool

The organ work was very nice indeed, had a kind of haunted house/graveyard feel about it. not entirely sure about the beat behind it..didn't really work so well, I would have put a far away timpani sound playing a dull thudding heart beat kind of rythm. but it's your work man, play however you want. great potential...

Scarlatti responds:

Thanks a lot. The heart-beat thing would indeed have been dramatic, but it's a bit too safe. To do something different, like successfully combining a rock beat and a church-ish organ (kind of successfully, anyway), makes one grow more musically than to do something that is more common. But it is harder, and that's why some of my music is perhaps a little off. But you have to admit, I'm getting better. Like the Beatles, but not as pant-shittingly awesome.

...Nice

It was very well played, and had some interesting changes of pace that kept the song interesting. One thing that let you done was the quality of the sound, it kept clipping, which is very annoying, also...not really my type of music. Nice work though!

good

It was good to a certain extent, the organ when the choir kick in at the beginning didn't flow as well as it could have, it kept stopping and starting, and in the middle, the one note that the organ was playing over and over again was a bit too pronounced and got really annoying. But other than that, some pretty impressive stuff, i especially like the choir sounds, what do you use for that?

PS - Dude..sort your timpani out...it sounds like crap

Scarlatti responds:

Thanks. I rather noticed the problem with the loudness of the one note, but I couldn't think of a way to fix it at the time. I used Korg Choir Ahhs for the choir, which you should be able to get for free on Hammersound.net. And yes, the timpani sucked, I know. But that doesn't matter anymore. MIDI playback is a thing of the past, for me. For now, anyhow.

woahhh...

Woah man...what was that...after hearing your song "A spell of irony" i was looking forward to this...im not trying to sound mean here...but what went wrong...? A couple of things to change: -

1. Your guitar was hideously out of tune...that's never a good thing
2. The drums were playing...what seemed like a different song to the guitar..
3. The riffs were all kinda..mumbled together..make the transistions smoother

Im not trying to be mean, you have alot of talent, this song just doesn't show it :s

April-Footsteps responds:

Lol thanks for the talent comment, I greatly appreciate it. Yeah, I know; this song SUCKS. You can say it =P -> I know it does. But great improvement I think.

Nice...

I liked it man, what can i say. The flange/chorus at the beginning was a little OTT to be honest, but it was a nice intro, that led into a powerful riff. This song has a nice kinda summertime "Jimmy Eat World" feel to it, I love the melodic solo in it too. It would sound so good with vocals and real drums, so, if you put some in, I think it could deserve a 10. Good work, you'll go far.

April-Footsteps responds:

Hmm.. not too sure what OTT means but.. thanks for the support. =D -> It was all made good because my friend Geraint though =P he's the one who brought the writing to life. And real drums don't matter, these one's are great. And vocals.. bah.. I'm 15 -> I can't sing =P -> And I've got a cold at the moment, so that doesn't help at all. =P -> Thanks for the great review.

lol

I hate rap..but that was too funny, how can you take this seriously...come back when you have some balls mate...

Nice

Man..this is cool, nice atmostsphere. I like the big choir half way through. It's all a bit 80's...lol

Slayer-of-trolls responds:

Thanks. Yeah, I like that part too. I'd like to redo this song with a real drummer and some vocal tracks and tweak it abit. Make it heavier.

Kewl

This is one of my favourite Metallica songs, nice job!

Slayer-of-trolls responds:

Thanks. It's one of my favorite metallica songs too. I just did it for fun. Their new stuff sucks tho.
